Golden Milk

My new obsession is a drink called Golden Milk. I drink it 3 times a week before bedtime to help boost my immune system, burn belly fat and to help detox my liver. The Golden milk is a tolerant way to introduce turmeric into your diet. Turmeric has a wide range of antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anticarcinogenic, antimutagenic and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric has been known to help prevent cancer,  control diabetes, boost your immunity, helps with weight management, relieves arthritis, reduces cholesterol level, helps with alzheimers and prevents liver disease.  

In addition to turmeric,  I also add cinnamon, ginger,  honey, cardamom, black pepper and coconut oil to the drink mix. In order for your body to get the nutrients from the golden milk, certain rules has to be followed.

 

There must be oil/fat added to the drink,

Pepper to help the curcumin in the turmeric to be absorbed by the body

Heat(must be hot or warm)

Ingredients for the turmeric paste 

1/2 cup of turmeric

2 cups of water

1/2 tsp cardamom

1 tsp of ginger powder

Add the turmeric and water in a pot and boil on medium heat.

Add cardamom and ginger powder to the pot and boil for 10 minutes or until a paste is formed.

You can keep the paste in a tight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Now for the Golden milk that you can drink everynight before bed.

1 tbsp of the turmeric paste 

2 cups of Almond or coconut milk

1 tsp of grounded  black pepper

1 tsp of ginger powder or grated ginger

1 tsp of Cinammon

1 tbsp of coconut oil

1-2 tbsp of your choice sweetener to taste

 

 

Combine all the ingredients in a microwavable cup and heat up for 2 minutes.  If it's not hot enough do another minute.  Enjoy before bed.

 

All the ingredients in the Golden Milk fights free radicals in your body and are great detoxification agents.
